he called me up telling me that – via my homepage – an international patient visited him for 2 weeks now in the clinic in Nicosia doing daily training and was after one week able to first stand up from the wheelchair.

we here in Austria are sooo very very happy and proud to have learned this wonderful technique of TREATING THE BRAIN.

Why is this not applied everywhere? Why do I not get it in a hospital?

I was 2 weeks ago in New York in the most advanced training available in the US from the group that supported all the university research and produces all the devices that are used for university research.

In the whole 2 days – wonderful and dedicated – meeting we got to know the most advanced (and very expensive) machines and devices and a lot of background information how they work – but no-one ever talked about treating patients – it was all only about research!

If I talked to this wonderful highly respected researchers about our results with patients in the praxis they were politely interested but rather went back to talk to each other about new studies they are doing – and most of them where PhD – not MD.

Though there are already a vast number of studies this medical field is basically still very early and still frozen in the stage of university research.

Petros brought it from Research in to the doctors office

Doctor of Osteopathy (Univ. Sidney) Petros Kattou was to my knowledge the first one using it in a “regular doctors clinic” on regular patients and transferring this science into praxis.

Actually – Petros was cured by such devices from incruciating pain that led him to get 7 surgerys on the back after suffering for years – being for months even in a wheelchair – after a severy car accident –> “failed spine surgery syndrom“.

Having his neurological knowledge (he tought Anatomy and Neuro-Anatomy at Sidneys University undergraduate courses) he developed a unique testing scheme using “simple” neurological tests to get knowledge of the region of the brain that are affected and “married” this knowlege with the modern science of neuromodulation and then tested this system vigourously over years on thousand patients in his clinic.

In 70% of the cases it works, but in more cases it works if you change the treatment mode or ad another treatment modality.  Actually in my office it works in higher percentage.

Petros wants every patient to see his specialist regularely, the Neuromodulation is additional support not instead.

After a 2 days training (3.000,-) you can start providing such treatment in your office. To master the system I would think you need another 2-3 retrainings (500,-) and best a shadow-training in the clinic of DO Kattou in Cyprus.

what do I need to get this treatment

You will be examined and do a test-training in the clinic of the Doctor. This is usually not a real “treatment” but rather a training that you can learn to use the devices for brain-neuromodulation at home.

You will only be equipped with this medical device for home-treatment (that can only be aquired via a trained doctor) if you are capeable to use this device.

Then you do your treatment at home on a nearly daily manner, sometimes even twice or three times a day for about 30 minutes.

how much will that cost me?

the prices are individualized by each doctor, I just want to give you a range to get an idea

• Doctors visit is usually between 250-450,- depending on the time needed
  • Petros is charging for international patients 1.000,-
• initial training for learning the device: about 100,- per hour / session, many doctors have “packets” for that so that you pay less

there are several tDCS-Devices that are used

• unipolar treatment device 1.400,- – 1.600,-
• hd-devices for complex cases (ALS, complex Parkinson …) 2.400,-

Brainstem-Stimulation device

• the taVNS device is 899,- – 1.100,-

Soterix-devices (only available via doctors) cost about 2.5 times the price of the SOZO-devices.

This medical devices are simply very expensive compared to home electronics because they need studies and rigourous testing and certifications which is very expensive!
