tDCS – Professional device for clinical research, 30% of all tDCS studies have been conducted with it. We use this for 2-channel tDCS or tDCS of the brainstem/spine, significantly cheaper than the second professional device from SOTERIX.
Problem: Because it was designed for studies, very close monitoring by the physician is required.
A maximum of 99 treatments can be activated, after which the device must be “activated” again by the physician.
We currently have no influence on this, sorry, that was the price for approval.
You can reactivate the device at any time and without prior appointment (as long as the office is open).
Plato
Currently the best tDCS for home treatment with the corresponding approval. Can only be administered by physicians.
The software is regularly updated and thus gains new capabilities. For example, a software version will soon be available that enables not only direct current but also alternating current stimulation, with identical hardware.
Problems often arise after a software update.
Problem 1 – Software won’t start
Wi-Fi or mobile phone required to start the app.
This was a problem, for example, for sailors on a large container ship who had no Wi-Fi over long distances, so they switched to the NEWRONIKA.
Once you’ve logged in, it’s no problem to work without a mobile phone; just don’t close the app completely.
Problem 2 – Forgotten User Password
We install and configure the app for patients. If they reinstall the software, they may then lose access to the user account.
Which user, how do I log in?
When you start the program, the SETTINGS menu option is in the bottom right corner.
If you activate this menu item, you can log in with our default user under the SIGN IN menu item.
retzek00 – with the password retzek00P
must be written the same way, i.e., the P at the end is capitalized, and it’s not the letter “O” but a “ZERO” in retzek00.
This gives you a simplified interface with only four options, less confusing and less motivating to play around. It also has approximately 20% higher stimulation power – up to 2 mA instead of 1.6 mA – programmed for my doctor’s office.
You can also create a new account with your own email address, after which you’ll get the right-hand user interface with 6 options and only 1.6 mA instead of 2 mA.

Problem: Software can no longer find the device

closing an app on an iPhone phone
To completely close and restart an app on your iPhone, follow these steps:
- Open the app switcher:
- iPhone with Face ID: Swipe up from the bottom edge and briefly pause in the middle of the screen.
- iPhone with Home button: Double-click the Home button.
- Close the app:
- Find the desired app in the overview of open apps.
- Swipe the app up to close it. close.
- Restart the app:
- Go back to the Home screen.
- Tap the app icon to restart the app.
These steps ensure that the app is completely closed before restarting.
Easiest method: Restart the phone
Shutting down and restarting your iPhone completely closes all apps. Upon restart, no apps will be in the background. This has the same effect as manually closing all apps in the app switcher, with the added benefit of clearing all of the device’s RAM.
After restarting, apps will need to be completely reloaded when you open them.
Closing an app on an Android phone
To completely close an app on Android and restart it, follow these steps:
- Open the app switcher:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (for gesture controls) or press the “Square” button (for navigation buttons) to display all open apps.
- Quit the app:
- Find the desired app in the list of open apps.
- Swipe up or sideways to close it (depending on your Android version).
- Force close (optional):
- Open Settings.
- Go to Apps (or Apps & Notifications).
- Find the app in the list and tap it.
- Select Force Stop.
- Restart the app:
- Open the app as usual from the app menu or from the home screen.
This process ensures that the app is completely closed and restarted.
Easiest method: Restart phone
Completely shutting down an Android device closes all apps. Restarting completely clears all apps from the background, as the RAM is completely cleared.
This has the same effect as manually closing all apps or forcing them to stop, but also restarts the entire system, which can fix minor software issues.
If Plato still doesn’t work: Delete and reinstall the software.
Even after restarting the software:
Delete the software completely from your phone and reinstall it from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
Delete App on iPhone
To completely delete an app from an iPhone, follow these steps:
- Delete App from the Home Screen:
- Find the app on the Home screen.
- Press and hold the app icon until a menu appears.
- Select Remove App.
- Tap Delete App to completely remove the app and all its data.
- Alternative via Settings:
- Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
- Scroll and find the app in the list.
- Tap the app and select Delete App.
Both methods will delete the app and its associated data from your device.
Delete app on Android phone
To completely delete an app from an Android device, follow these steps:
Method 1: From the Home Screen
- Find the app:
- Go to the Home screen or app drawer.
- Long press:
- Press and hold the app icon.
- Uninstall the app:
- Either drag the icon to “Uninstall” (if displayed) or select Uninstall from the menu that appears.
- Confirm:
- Tap Click OK to delete the app.
Method 2: Via Settings
- Open Settings:
- Go to Settings > Apps (or Apps & Notifications).
- Select an app:
- Find the app in the list and tap it.
- Uninstall:
- Tap Uninstall and confirm.
After uninstalling, the app and its data will be completely removed.
iPhone APP STORE
Open the “App Store” app, click SEARCH in the bottom left corner, then type PLATOAPP and select the correct app (some paid apps will always appear first) – black and white logo with the name “PlatoApp” Productivity by PlatoScience
Android
To install an app on an Android device, follow these steps:
From the Google Play Store:
- Open the Play Store:
- Tap the Google Play Store icon.
- Search for the app:
- Enter the name PLATOAPP in the search bar.
- App Select:
- Tap the app in the search results list.
- Install:
- Tap Install. The app will download and install automatically.
- Open the app:
- After installation, an Open button will appear. Alternatively, you can find the app on the home screen or in the app drawer.
Additional permission required for ANDROID users
Bluetooth, nearby devices, and Wi-Fi must be enabled
To set an Android app to automatically access Bluetooth, nearby devices, and Wi-Fi, you must grant the appropriate permissions. This works as follows:
1. Enable Bluetooth and nearby devices:
- Open Settings: Go to Settings > Apps > Select the app.
- Manage permissions: Tap Permissions.
- Bluetooth and nearby devices:
- Allow access to Nearby devices (required for Bluetooth scanning on Android 12 and higher).
- Make sure Location access is set to Always or When in use (required for Bluetooth discovery).
- Check Bluetooth settings:
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth and enable Bluetooth. Make sure your devices are discoverable.
2. Enable Wi-Fi access:
- Wi-Fi permissions:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Select the app > Permissions.
- Enable Wi-Fi and Cellular Access.
- Ensure Wi-Fi connection:
- Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, enable Wi-Fi, and connect to the desired network.
3. Automatic access when app starts:
- Allow background access:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Select the app > Battery or Restrict background usage.
- Make sure the app is Not optimized so it can use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in the background.
The app can now use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi automatically and detect nearby devices.

Plato – “take care”
Plato is designed for 2 years of daily use (even twice a day), after which the electrodes will show signs of wear. It’s important to clean the electrodes after use and dry them; if saline solution is repeatedly allowed to dry, they will break more quickly.
