Plato Troubleshootings

-

The following information comes from the company Plato, with whom I recently did another webinar.

The electrodes are sometimes “used up” through use – their shelf life is between 150 and 600 treatments, after which it becomes increasingly difficult to establish contact. Platoscience usually does prompt exchange, we never had a problem getting replacement.

What their research regarding this topic has shown

Saline solution must not be too strong

This depends primarily – they currently believe – on the salt concentration in the transfer solution.

Be sure to dilute saline solution

If you dilute physiological saline solution 1:10 with distilled water, this is more than sufficient and increases the total resistance by only 350 ohms, but the device works up to 15,000 ohms. I’m writing this specifically because we’ve been trained (and have also told our patients) to use a physiological saline solution—which, according to the latest findings, is no longer necessary and isn’t good for the electrodes.

Create the most resistance

  • If the electrode sponges aren’t fully in place, aren’t properly inserted
  • Hair

You can see the resistance very clearly in the app

What causes the most resistance?

  • Hair, hair, hair, hair
  • And if the sponge isn’t inserted perfectly into the electrode.

If you absolutely can’t get any contact

You should test a direct connection between the electrodes (that’s what we would do)

we have the appropriate cables.
