Petros Kattou

-

Dr. Petros Kattou is an Australian doctor of osteopathy (DO) specializing in spinal deformities such as idiopathic scoliosis and osteoporotic vertebral fractures who later developed an individualized testing and training program for neurological patients.

He completed his medical studies at Western Sydney University in Australia.

Psychology expert in the Australian Army

After completing his studies, Dr. Kattou joined the Australian Army to finance his tuition fees and worked there for 5 years as a “Behavior Scientist” – analyzing behavior and predicting future behavior of people being studied.

Petros worked as an assistant at the university while still a student, giving internships and lectures. At the same time, he founded a company developing osteopathic aids, which he later sold very successfully, so that his subsequent work was no longer driven by financial necessity but solely by interest and genius.

Moving to Cyprus

Looking for new challenges and for personal reasons (his family had emigrated from Cyprus to Australia but later returned back to Cyprus in retirement, his wife is from Cyprus),

Dr. Kattou moved to Cyprus and joined the AIMIS Healthcare Group, a network of multidisciplinary medical clinics.

his own severe suffering for many years

Since he suffered from severe pain for many years after a serious car accident with fractures of C1 and C2 (first and second cervical vertebrae) – these were operated on a total of 7 times, each time with only very short-lasting improvements or even post-operative worsening of his symptoms, Petros was desperate,

since he received no help whatsoever from his “own method: osteopathy” or from surgery or other physiotherapy etc., Petros even sat in a wheelchair at times.

first encounter with neuromodulation

It was only a patient from Cyprus who experienced a significant improvement in his terrible headache in Vienna thanks to a brain stem stimulator invented there (pSTIM and Prof. Szehi or Gabriel Landl) that prompted Petros to turn to this completely new method of “neuromodulation” or “brain stimulation”.

Petros flew to Vienna himself and received this brain stem stimulator, which cured his unbearable pain. After that, he began to use brain stimulation, neuromodulation in all its forms in his own osteopathic practice and experienced drastic, previously unseen, miraculous, incomprehensible improvements in serious and very serious illnesses.

Dr. Kattou has finally deepened his expertise in neuromodulation through international training. He maintains close relationships with leading experts in this field, including Prof. Marom Bikson, a pioneer of neuromodulation, and Prof. William Smith, a renowned neurosurgeon, and the Australian neurologist and neuromodulator Prof. Nic Lucas.

Increasingly successful practice for neuromodulation

Initially just “trying things out”, Petros – whose basic neurological knowledge as a university osteopathy teacher was extensive – was able to establish a proper system with which one can identify and differentiate weak points in the central nervous system and thus derive and apply the correct and effective treatment.

Petros, when asked by an osteopathy colleague how often he – as a former university osteopathy teacher – still uses it today: ……. actually practically not anymore. I only very rarely do cervical spine repositioning, but I treat everything else much more deeply and successfully with neuromodulation.

“The issue is not in the tissue – the issue is in the brain”

SOZΩ Brain Center

Finally, Petros initiated the SOZΩ Brain Center, a separate department in the AIMIS Clinics that specializes in neuromodulation techniques for the treatment of neurological diseases.

This department has now become the most successful and largest of the clinics, with patients from all over the world “queuing up to get an appointment” with the broad, multidisciplinary team led by Petros Kattou, made up of neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, neurosurgeons and physiotherapists – waiting times of up to a year for an appointment!

The SOZΩ Brain Center uses advanced neuromodulation techniques such as

  • transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS),
  • transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)
  • Low-field magnetic stimulation(LFMS)

and other neuromodulation techniques

These methods aim to modulate brain activity and thus treat various neurological conditions.

It’s not about using any devices – it’s about identifying the right stimulation sites and developing the right sequence as a treatment protocol. This is a highly individualized approach that we have developed through years of testing with thousands of patients.

SOZΩ Brain Academy

To pass on his knowledge, Dr. Kattou founded the SOZΩ Academy, where he trains doctors in neuromodulation techniques. His work has received international recognition, and he is invited worldwide to teach his methods.

His lectures are met with great interest and enthusiasm

Social Media

Dr. Kattou runs extremely successful social media channels (Facebook, Instagram) where he regularly presents miraculous patient cases.

Petros has regular TV appearances in Cyprus and Greece.

Petros provides significant charitable support, particularly in the area of the monasteries of Mount Athos in Greece and autistic children.

Dr. Kattou is fluent in English and Greek and is known for his innovative approaches to treating complex neurological diseases.
