Petros just called me and told me

Today he again had two autistic children, both of whom also had ADHD and were practically “unmanageable.” He referred to the “Australian child” as “Speedy Gonzales.”

One of these children had just arrived from Australia to Cyprus. The flight from Australia was a horror because the boy couldn’t sit still for a minute, always shrieking loudly!

Petros told me: when the parents originally inquired about treatment, they sent a video that didn’t reflect reality at all. Petros said the boy in the video was quiet and well-behaved, otherwise he wouldn’t have taken him on.

But now, as they arrive from Australia in the clinic in Nicosia, the boy was aggressive, pushing everyone away, running around violently, throwing things, banging his head on the floor, and losing control.

Petros wanted to simply send them away—”there’s no way to treat this”—but the parents were so upset and desparate:

The father said: “We’ve already lost one child to cancer, and our second child has this crazy autism. We’ve been everywhere in Australia, to every professor, every university clinic. We just can’t take it anymore. My wife is so devastated, she’s talking about suicide—please, please, please just try to help us.”

So, four adults restrained the aggressive child (“he had more strength than my 20-year-old son”) and, against his resistance, began pulse wave therapy.

Improvement after the first treatment

Shortly after the first treatment, the boy spoke for the first time and said “no” to his parents. During the second treatment the next day, the boy behaved relatively well and allowed himself to be touched. Today was his third visit – he now speaks several words and has been well-behaved all day – he willingly accepted treatment.

They also went to a shopping center today and he even tolerated and wore the hat his parents had put on him because of the current heat wave in Cyprus.

The second boy today was similar, als ADHS – only not as aggressive. Petros told me details, but I’ve honestly forgotten them now.

This should be “shared” and passed on, please.

I simply have to write this down and share it, even if it’s unscientific and sensationalist and will be criticized by serious colleagues.

But I personally experienced the boy with Landau-Kleffner syndrome (rabies) – autism – in Cyprus, who screamed day and night for a year, bit off part of his grandfather’s ear and four of his own fingers, and who started speaking again after six treatments and is now going back to school.

Autistic children are heartbreaking

I have treated about 30 autistic patients in my life as a doctor and have witnessed the hardship of these families, the parents who try day and night to control or care for their child – situations in the practice where you’re glad when the children are outside again because they are so restless and sometimes aggressive, and the knowledge that the parents feel the same way 24/7!
