For those over 60, relearning (in detail) all the neuroanatomy for neuromodulation & TPS, neurological tests, understanding the networks, etc. – as well as all the functions – is no longer so easy.

TPJ – Temporoparietal Junction

TPJ consist of
-
angular gyrus (posterior to sulcus)
-
supramarginal gyrus(superior-posterior to sulcus)
-
posterior superior temporal sulcus (immediately inferior to the end of sulcus lateralis)
Lateral sulcus (posterior Sylvian Sulcus) for TPJ
Angular gyrus for TPJ
about Memory – Papez circle
The neuron circuit draws from the Hippocampus via the Fornix to the Corpora mamillaria, from there via the mamillothalamic bundle (Vicq d’Azyr bundle) to the anterior nucleus of the Thalamus and then via the Radiato thalami to the cingulate gyrus. The cingulate gyrus projects over the Cingulum for Area entorhinalis of the parahippocampal gyrus, which in turn has the Perforating tract projects to the hippocampus, thus completing the circuit.
The following stages will be completed in detail:
- Subiculum of the hippocampus
- Alveus
- Fimbria hippocampi
- Fornix cerebri
- Corpora mamillaria (Nucleus mammillaris medialis)
- Fasciculus mamillothalamicus (Vicq d’Azyr bundle)
- Anterior thalami nuclei
- thalamocingular tract
- cingulate gyrus
- Cingulum
- Area entorhinalis of the gyrus parahippocampalis
- Tractus perforans
- Dentate gyrus
- Hippocampus
Function of the Papez Circle
It was previously assumed that the Papez Circle represented emotions (e.g., Anger and anger). Today, it is assumed that the processes required for this are considerably more complex. However, due to its integrative function within the limbic system, it plays an important role in emotions. The Papez circuit is probably the reason why it is possible to “get carried away” with emotions. This may result in a repeated reentry of the excitation into the Papez circuit.
The Papez circle is probably used to store recents memory contents, whereby contents of the primary memory are transferred to the Secondary – or Tertiary memory can be transferred. Analogous to a “one-way street,” it can only run in one direction.[1] In the event of failures, a anterograde Amnesia with preserved Long-term memory.
Diseases
Failures of individual components, such as the Amygdala lead to Klüver-Bucy syndrome. The corpora mamillaria are selectively vulnerable to Alcohol, a destruction caused by Alcohol abuse leads to Korsakov syndrome.
