Landau-Kleffner Syndrom – appears like Autism – ferociously violent calmed down

-

Petros sends us a crazy neurological case of “Autism”:

…… True miracle today ! We needed over 5 people hold this boy down! Self harm , very violent , primitive behaviours urinate/ defecate anywhere.

Sleep 💤 cycles terrible cover bar seizures during sleep 😴

Landau-Kleffner syndrome isn’t autism.

But diagnosing Landau-Kleffner syndrome vs. autism can be challenging because their symptoms are similar.

Often, EEGs taken when your child is awake and only when your child is asleep can distinguish between the two conditions.

Does Landau-Kleffner syndrome have any other names?

Healthcare providers sometimes call this condition acquired aphasia with epilepsy.

How common is Landau-Kleffner syndrome?

Landau-Kleffner syndrome is rare, but researchers aren’t sure exactly how many people have it.

Symptoms and Causes

What causes Landau-Kleffner syndrome?

No cause can be found in the majority of children with LKS. About 20% of children with LKS have changes (mutations) in their GRIN2A gene, though. Children inherit this mutation from one of their parents. But not everyone with this genetic change develops LKS.

Some children with LKS have mutations in other genes. They might be the first person in their family to have the mutation, known as a de novo mutation.

What are the symptoms of Landau-Kleffner syndrome?

Not every child with LKS has the same symptoms. If your child has LKS, it may seem like they can’t hear you. They may have a hard time understanding what you and others say to them. They may also have new developmental delays, intellectual differences or learning disabilities. Sometimes, these language difficulties can make your child to feel frustrated and cause behavioral symptoms such as agitation, not paying attention, anger outbursts or acting out.

Children with LKS may be:

  • Unable to speak.
  • Likely to have seizures.
  • More likely to have behavioral disorders (such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder).

Dr. Adel Rayess was present when the child was brought in the first time

I have see this patient last july in sozo clinic in Cyprus staying some days with Petros.

It was one of the most shocking experiences in my life actually!

This young man singly started to hit 5 men in front of my eyes …. and for more than 10 minutes!

One of these 5 men is a 125 kgs extremely muscular and strong guy , 3 other well built men and Dr petros who was desperately trying to hold his head to install the LFMS device .

I must say that I’ve never seen such dedication from a medical professional towards a patient as much as Dr petros was sacrificing!

This young men was biting ferociously Petros in his hands, forearms and his right shoulder!!!!! And Dr petros refused to give up on him , and was taking all this pain just for this patient to get better !

PS: I must specify that Dr petros isn’t charging him , not even a cent ! I won’t even call this charity , coz it’s much more than that ….
And now seeing that this young man is like a 100 times more calm ….. I’m extremely impressed!
Bravo petros….

DD to Autism

If you have autism, you may process sensory information differently. You may be unable to filter out irrelevant sights or sounds, such as, in the previous example, the flickering light or the microwave. Or you may find certain sounds, lights, smells, or textures to be severely distracting or uncomfortable.
