We were in Aggsbach on the Danube with our camper. On Sunday, there was a fire brigade festival or a “Kirtag” (parish fair) of some sort, and as we were strolling through, we saw a very small table at the roadside with Markus Preiser, the Chili Gourmet Farmer, who grows and refines many different types of chilies with great passion and love.

Bought “Chiligarden” products without many expectations
To be honest, I bought a few jars out of sympathy “for the dedicated commitment of this chili freak standing here at the fair completely unnoticed,” and when I got home, I was absolutely thrilled.
Truly great products, something completely new
The ChiliCandy has become indispensable: extremely great “sweet pickled organic chili” with a spice level that is very tolerable for me. Truly excellent.
The Chili Salt is designed so that you can add a useful amount of spiciness with very little salt.

And the two chili jams I took with me were polished off immediately because they were so aromatic and good; I don’t even remember which ones they were exactly.

I didn’t buy more than that; I’m mainly creating this page so that I can remember it later and reorder.
The story of the failing memory – why I record the story here
My father had dementia, and it seems to be starting with me already. It took me 20 minutes of searching just to find the nice camper parking spot (Aggsbach Markt) where we parked by the Danube and bought the Cowboy Candies from Chiligarden.at at the fair.

“Vacations” with our ancient motorhome
Quickly staying for a night by the Danube with the motorhome (and then continuing to work on the laptop there with a beautiful view) was one of our most beautiful “vacations” last year.
Park4Night – great and at the same time useless
Park4Night is a practical app for finding a spot, but it’s quite poor in terms of UI programming (e.g., where do I find the places I’ve reviewed or “I was here” places? They don’t show up in “my visited places”).
Google Maps Camper-Place List
That’s why I’ve saved a list of great places in Google Maps (some entries are from Ilse, my sister who also runs a Camper) as well as here for myself—to save the cool spots with short notes.
Why am I saving all this?
Because I can’t remember names (like Chiligarden.at or Aggsbach) over many months or years.
In fact, we spent at least 12 nights in the camper in 2025:
-
3 x in Ebensee at Lake Traunsee – really great spot, about 20km from us, for when we just need to get out.
-
1 x at Lake Hallstatt.
-
1 x Mauthausen (cool) directly on the Danube (Park4night entry) – the photos on Park4Night are from us with our camper (just click on the photo).
-
1 x in Wallsee on the Danube (great spot!).
-
1 x Aggsbach (professional spot) – usually full by the afternoon.
-
1 x at the “Deutsches Eck” just after Salzburg on the way to Innsbruck.
-
1 x in Innsbruck / Igls / Patscherkofel parking lot to meet our friends and Applied Kinesiology teachers Margit Riedl Hohenberger and Dietmar.
-
1 x at Weyregger Gahberg next to the Gahberg Chapel – spent a rainy afternoon at the parking lot (overnight stay is forbidden there, I believe).
-
2 x Forstgarten Campsite in the Gesäuse – a beautiful region! It’s incredible how the “little Enns” river has carved its way 1,000 meters deep through the mountains here!
